The Challenge Purpose of the job The leader of the EHS&S department leads all Environmental, Health, Safety and Security initiatives at a large chemical resin production and compounding site to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. He/she ensures compliance with and lead timely renewal of the site's License to Operate and serves as a key member of the site’s leadership team. He/she is responsible for Security/Facility, the ERT (Emergency Response Team), and Integrity & Compliance department. Responsibilities Develop and implement an EHS&S policy including targets. Improve safety performance by amongst others implementing behavior based safety programs. Develop and secure the availability, accessibility and quality of relevant EHS&S expertise• Overall ownership for implementing and maintaining the EHS&S Management System and act as an element administrator. Monitor relevant legislative developments and implement in the site EHS&S Management systems. Personal accountability for compliance issues / site incidents. Provides strong cost management to ensure budgetary commitments are met. Ensures independence of Integrity & Compliance department. Define EHS&S training requirements for all site jobs. Represents the legal entity at the EHS&S Committee of the Works Council. Represents the site in the City Council and in external safety networks. Your Profile Requirements & experience Academic level in engineering (eg Chemical Engineering). Good experience (>10 years) within chemical industry in the field of operations/manufacturing. Experience in all relevant processes for EHSS manager: General management, operations management, EHS&S management. Applicable competencies for analyzing complex safety and environmental issues and the ability to manage and convince multi disciplinary teams on EHSS and permitting issues. Responsibilities Provides strategic direction and leadership for the Site Process and Project Engineering Team, and Process Automation Engineering Team. Provides leadership in OE efforts. Owns Technology Application Management (TAM) and Small Project (SP) rollout for the site. Works with site leaders to develop the Unit Technology Plans and Site Infrastructure Technology Plans and manages teams to execute the plans. Owns Total Cost Out (TCO) initiative for the site and manages transition into OE methodology. Owns the Site Manufacturing Technical Career Path (MTCP) and organize site Principal Engineers in maintaining and advancing MTCP efforts. Overall responsibility for the capex budget for the site. Assists Site and Global Training Leaders in identifying, acquiring and/or developing and delivering important technical training. Ensures best practices are shared across the company. Provides input into the development of the Business Technology Plan. Interfaces with the Process COE on gap analysis to identify future technology opportunities. Assesses value of opportunities from other work processes. Ensures solid technical support for EHS&S goals.
