| Company Lawyer Beschrijving: Department The Legal Affairs department for the region Europe is responsible for the legal support to all of SABIC’s activities in Europe and currently consists of eleven company lawyers, located in Sittard (Netherlands), Bergen op Zoom (Netherlands) and Wilton (UK). The department is part of a global Legal Affairs organization with over 60 company lawyers worldwide structured on a regional basis with global functional legal support. For the location Sittard (located in the south of The Netherlands close to the German border, approx. 20 kilometers from Aachen), SABIC is looking for a highly motivated company lawyer, preferably from Germany to expand the international profile of the department, who will report to the Senior Counsel and who will work in a team of six company lawyers located in Sittard. The Challenge You will be responsible for a broad variety of international oriented commercial legal work, mainly related to SABIC’s petrochemicals business in Europe.You will provide all-round legal support to business units and functional departments allocated to you. Tasks: Actively advise business management in the decision making process indicating legal options and constraints; Draft, negotiate and implement various international commercial contracts (such as sales, procurement, distributor and agency agreements) with counterparties in different jurisdictions; Support projects of the business units allocated to you (which may include international commercial transactions as well as M&A and joint-venture projects of different complexity); Contribute to and drive inter-company projects in liaison with colleagues in other countries, particularly in Middle East and the US such as inter-company agreements, and corporate risk and compliance matters; Provide German law specific support to SABIC’s operations in Germany; Handle legal proceedings and supervise the related activities of outside counsels. Your Profile You have a Master in German Law.Your focus is on commercial law and projects, but you are able to identify critical issues in fields such as competition law, corporate law, intellectual property and tax where specialist advice may be required. You have 4-8 years of relevant experience as an in-house lawyer or private practice lawyer in an international setting. A previous experience in a similar position in the chemical industry would be a strong asset (as well as experience with international trade, export control, compliance and competition law). You have a fluent command of English (which is the working language within SABIC) and German, both written and spoken. Knowledge of any further language is a plus. You are internationally minded and are able to operate in a multi-cultural environment and handle transactions in different jurisdictions. You are a socially balanced and strong personality with a keen business sense and a hands-on, no nonsense mentality who is able to formulate clear and to-the-point both verbally and in writing.
