Internship T&i Polyolefins Reactive Modification
Beschrijving: About Technology & Innovation The Chemistry, Catalysis & Operations (CC&O) department is one of three departments (besides our sister departments Material and Technology Development) located at SABIC’s European Technology Center (STC) in Geleen (NL). We help our European production assets in selecting the right feedstocks and in making the desired products with the right quality and at lowest costs, both for the crackers and polyolefins. CC&O mainly supports production assets in Geleen, Gelsenkirchen (D) and Teesside (UK) in catalyst selection and development and in process improvements through increased understanding of the process chemistry. Additionally, we help in the selection of inhibitors and additives, and in the characterisation of feedstocks for both, olefins and polyolefins production facilities. The Challenge Reactive modification of polyolefins (i. e. polypropylene) in extruders is widely applied. It is a complex interplay between reaction and mixing. If the kinetics of both are not fitting well to each other the targeted product quality will not be reached. We aim for a better understanding of the competing phenomena by means of small-scale experiments. In your study, you will design and build a lab scale set-up for the reactive modification of polyolefins (i. e. polypropylene). Furthermore, you will develop the experimental protocols for modification experiments, and start first experiments. The later course of your assignment will depend on the outcome of these first experiments. If you are interested in a graduation project we can easily expand this assignment by a study on the fundamentals of reaction mechanisms (if you’re a chemist) or reaction and mixing kinetics (for chemical engineers). We can offer this assignment to you as soon as you want, and would appreciate it if you decided to join SABIC as internship student for at least four months, preferably six months. Your Profile You are a student of chemistry or chemical engineering with a preference for preparative lab work, preferably in the third or fourth year. You have understood the basics of organic chemistry and reaction kinetics, and you are interested and skilled in experimental work. We expect that you can work on your own but do not hesitate to interact with your team or other departments whenever it is necessary. The company language is English. Further Information Please contact Christoph Dittrich (intership coordinator T&I/TD, 0031 46 722 3117) or Malissa Martens (internship coordinator HRM, 0031 46 722 2285) if you have further questions. Sharing our futures in leadership SABIC is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of chemicals, fertilizers, plastics and metals. We supply these materials to other companies, who use them to make products on which the world has come to depend. We are the largest and most reliably profitable public company in the Middle East. Our success is the result of our focus on three key areas: investment in local partnerships, outstanding research and technology programs, and an ambitious global growth strategy. And last, but certainly not least, because of our talented employees who have a passion to deliver. In Europe, SABIC employs over 6,000 professionals and is running 6 world-scale production sites and 4 technology & innovation centers. We are present in almost every European country. Major locations within our broad network of innovation, production and marketing are: Teesside (UK), Cartagena (Spain), Gelsenkirchen (Germany), Geleen (Netherlands) Bergen op Zoom (The Netherlands) and Genk (Belgium). Based upon this strong fundament, we are a key producer of olefins, polyolefins, engineering thermoplastics resins, films and sheets in Europe. At SABIC we are pushing the limits further. We are ambitious and striving to become the preferred world leader in chemicals. To achieve this ambition, we strongly invest in our most important asset – our employees. We see it as our task to help you develop a career with us that challenges you in ways that really make you come alive. Make your career happen with SABIC.

Transporter Scientist Within The Ddi Section In The Department Of Drug Metabolism
Beschrijving: Your job: You will be responsible for implementing drug transporter studies within the DDI section and in particular setting up new assays/cell cultures in the laboratory. Furthermore, we expect you to be or become our drug transporter specialist. In addition to the transporter studies, you will be responsible for planning, executing and reporting of other in vitro DDI metabolism studies including enzyme reaction phenotyping, enzyme inhibition and enzyme induction. The data obtained will be used for simulation of PK and DDI using SimCYP. Thus you will also be involved in SimCYP simulations. Furthermore, you will also be involved in studies to elucidate the mechanism behind a given observation. The techniques primarily used are LC-MS-MS and radiochemical detection. Another part of your work will be close collaboration with Contract Research Organisations (CRO’s), who are performing studies on behalf of the DDI section. As a scientist you will also be involved in project teams, representing the department or the non-clinical Safety Research area. The primary responsibility of the project team member is to drive the project forward and carry out decisions made by the team.
